Edward J. Shannon age 90 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday April 20, 2021 at The Alverno in Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral service will be held 6:00 PM Thursday at the Low Moor Community Center in Low Moor. Visitation will be held Thursday 4 – 6 PM at the Low Moor Community Center. A private family burial will be held Friday morning at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Edward was born on Oct. 10, 1930 in Clinton, the son of Leonard and Rosemary (Costello) Shannon. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and went on the Honor Flight in 2018. Ed married Josephine C. (Herch) Brown on Dec. 10, 1956 in Clinton, she died in 2011. He was an over the road truck driver for Allied Van Lines and later at Carstensen Freight Lines; retiring in 1983.

Ed was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, and was a member and enjoyed working with all the guys at the Low Moor Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. Ed delivered for Meals on Wheels. He loved to work in the yard and garden, giving most or all vegetables to his family and friends. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears and the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. Ed made his second home at Bickford Assisted Living for over two years.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Debra (James) Deters of Clinton; three granddaughters, Jamie (Greg) Burken, Sara Deters, and Amanda (Shawn) Rogis all of Clinton; two great grandsons, Chase and Carson Burken; his sister, Darlene Kuehl of Clinton; his brother, John Shannon of Lancaster, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Josephine, a son, Gene, three sisters, and three brothers.
