Earl F. Stuedeman, age 92 of Clinton, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at his home. In following Earl’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Earl was born in Clinton on March 10, 1928, the son of Bendix John and Marvel Lucille (Baker) Stuedeman. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1946. He served with the US Navy on the LST 945 in China during WW II. Earl married Peggy Schneider on July 23, 1950 in Clinton. Peggy passed away on August 21, 2008. Earl owned and operated Earl’s Shell Service on 2nd St. for 52 years. Following his retirement he worked part time at Super Wash for 10 years. He was a member of the Lyons Lodge #93 where he served 4 times as Past Master, Clinton Scottish Rites Bodies, 33rd Degree Mason, the Kaaba Shrine in Davenport and the High 12 Club. He enjoyed bowling, working on cars and yardwork. Earl was a 75 year member of the Miles American Legion, a lifetime member of the Odeon Club, and a former tax payer.
Earl is survived by 2 daughters, Vicki (Marv) McQuistion and Penny Stuedeman both of Clinton; 3 grandsons, Kevin (Tina) McQuistion, Brian McQuistion and Tony LaCroix; 5 great grandchildren, Christopher and Allison McQuistion and Alexis, Taylor and Samantha McQuistion; his brother, Donald L. Stuedeman of Sunnyvale, CA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Walter Meyer; his wife, Peggy; a sister, Beverly; a step-brother, John; a step-sister, Joyce; 2 sisters-in-law, Norma and Dorothy; a brother-in-law, Glen, and a nephew.
