Dorothy was born on Feb. 12, 1936 in Clinton, IA the daughter of Raymond and Viola (Rasmussen) Horst. She married Richard “Dick” Lingle on April 14, 1956 in Clinton, he died in 2023. She was a secretary at Interstate Power Plant, Civil Secretary at Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and a Ward Clerk at Mercy Hospital, Clinton. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. Dorothy was humble about her artistic talents like, piano playing and various arts and crafts that included painting and pencil sketches of nature and light houses. Dorothy and Dick enjoyed bible studies, the CEW family, volunteering with the Holiday Network, and visiting nursing homes. They loved their summers at their cottage on Lake Chetek in WI and the friendships made over the years. Dorothy formed a “Mary Widows” group after Dick died and enjoyed many L.G.A.R. retreats with her daughters over the years. In 2025 Dorothy transitioned with grace from her home they built together with love in 1959, where she and Dick raised their “Lingle Bunch”, moving to Addington Place where she met new friends and was reunited with old acquaintances. She especially enjoyed playing bingo for sweets, assembling jigsaw puzzles, watching sunsets, attending a weekly Bible study and was a life-long Christian who put her faith in Jesus Christ as her savor.
