Sharon DeWitt, 86 of Clinton, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 at her home. According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery, at a later date. Memorials can be made in memory of Sharon, directed to Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. Sharon Ann DeWitt was born in Clinton, IA on February 15, 1940, the daughter of Stewart and Vivian (Finn) DeWitt. She graduated from St. Mary’s in 1958. Sharon married Joseph Gibart, and in their 21 years, had two children. She later spent 36 years with her best friend, Richard Meyer. Sharon worked as a Lab Technician at Bluff Medical Center and also in the chemical lab at ITW Magniflux.
Sharon was a devout Catholic, becoming a member of Prince of Peace and also volunteering at The Canticle serving lunches. She made mats, hats, and scarves for the needy. Sharon loved working in the yard and gardening; donating her home grown vegetables to the needy. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, going to the casino, traveling to Mexico with Richard, and adored her Dachshunds; Bessie Girl, Gretchen Ann, and Izzy.
Sharon is survived by her children, Michelle Strunk of Clinton and Michael (Nicole) Gibart of LaCrosse, WI; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a brother John DeWitt of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her best friend Richard; and three siblings, Janice Lehmkuhl, David DeWitt, and Richard DeWitt.
