Eleanor Joan Walker, lovingly known as Ellie, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born on August 17, 2021, and in her four years of life, touched countless hearts with her strength, kindness, and beautiful sassy spirit.

Ellie was a bright light whose smile could warm any room. Known for her beautiful red hair, gentle heart, caring nature, and adventurous spirit, she brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Affectionately nicknamed “Little Red” by her Papa, Ellie wore her vibrant red hair proudly and became known for the spark, warmth, and personality it reflected. She loved Disney Princesses and could often be found singing, playing, and dreaming of magical adventures. One of her favorite pastimes was snuggling on the couch with her Nanas, watching Disney movies and enjoying time together, creating precious memories that will be cherished forever. Ellie had a special bond with her brother, Theo, whom she loved dearly. Their laughter, playtime, and countless shared moments will forever be treasured.

One of Ellie’s favorite places in the world was Destin, Florida. She loved spending time on the beach, building sandcastles, digging in the sand, listening to the waves, and soaking up the sunshine with her family. These cherished vacations created memories that her family will hold close forever.

Though small in stature, Ellie possessed courage far beyond her years. Throughout her battle with cancer, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength and determination. She was a true fighter whose resilience inspired everyone around her. Even during the most difficult days, Ellie’s sweet spirit and loving nature continued to shine through.

Over the past 14 months, Ellie endured surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, countless hospital stays, tests, procedures, and treatments with a bravery that inspired everyone who met her. While her journey was marked by unimaginable challenges, it was also filled with love, hope, laughter, and the unwavering support of family, friends, and caregivers. The Walker family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, therapists, child life specialists, social workers, and staff at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for the extraordinary care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Ellie and her family throughout her battle.

In her short time on earth, Ellie taught those around her the meaning of unconditional love, courage, perseverance, and joy. Her impact reached far beyond her years, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Ellie is survived by her loving parents, Max and Miranda Walker; her beloved brother, Theo Walker; her grandparents, Guy and Susan Murphy and Glenda Walker; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, caregivers, and all who were blessed to be part of her life.
