Carol Sue Cooper age 78 of Clinton, IA passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday 5:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Carol was born on Oct. 22, 1947 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Loren and Esther (Ritter) Nichols. She married Larry Cooper on April 16, 1977 in Yorktown, WI. Most of her life she was a homemaker. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and watching the birds she enjoyed so much. These simple pleasures reflected the warmth and care she showed throughout her life. Carol will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her husband, Larry Cooper of Clinton, IA; her children, Bart Cooper of California, Mike (Dawn) Cooper of Dublin, GA, Heath Cooper of Clinton, IA, Tom (Brenda) Cooper of Elvira, IA, Brad (Alyssia) Cooper of Thomson, IL, and Rhesa (Daryl) Gonyier of Clinton, IA; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, who brought great joy. She leaves behind her beloved fur baby, LittleBit.
