Marilyn was born on July 23, 1931 in Clinton, IA the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Stamp) Eggers. In her teenage years, she worked for Dr. O’Donnell of Clinton. She married Gerald Jost on Sept. 23, 1950 in Clinton, he died in 2021. In 1984 they built a house on the family farm, soon after they started Jost Country Pickin’ with their son’s family and she picked and sold strawberries and asparagus for over 30 years. Marilyn adored her grandchildren and called them “Sweetie Pie” which ended up being the name they gave her. She was affectionately known as Grandma Sweetie Pie by her 7 grandchildren and eventually by all her great grandchildren. She loved being with family and making memories the family would cherish the rest of their lives; such as family vacations to Florida and especially enjoying activities at the lake house at Lake Thunderhead. Both Marilyn and Gerald enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home.
Marilyn is survived by her three children, David (Julianne) Jost of Bryant, IA, Dennis (Jane) Jost of Ankeny, IA, and Debra (Wayne) Jost-Larsen of Elm Grove, WI; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Melissa) Jost, Kelly (Nathan) Good, Matthew (Becky) Jost, Stephen (Erin) Jost, Sarah (Patrick) Hall, Paul (Danielle) Larsen, and Evan (AJ Avedon) Larsen and 15 great grandchildren, Ethan, Kate, Connor, Adelia, Lauren, Dylan, Theo, Lila, Ivie, Lennon, Marlie Jo, Remy, Rowan, Wyatt, and Spencer; her cousin, Gregg Crawford and his daughter, Libbie.
