
Roland D. Petersen age 88 of Bryant, IA, a well-known Clinton & Jackson County farmer, passed away Saturday Nov. 15, 2025 at MercyOne, Clinton. Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday Nov. 22nd at Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. Visitation will be held Friday Nov. 21st from 4 – 7 PM at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at Miles City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Roland was born on March 1, 1937 in Jackson County at his parent’s home, the son of Virtus and Velma (Mommsen) Petersen. He was a Miles High School graduate in 1955. Roland married Bette Wulf, his wife of 67 years on Oct. 5, 1958 in Andover, IA. Roland enjoyed farming and was still involved into his 80’s. He was honored with awards in farming, including with Master Farmer in 1984, Iowa Hog Producers, Iowa Cattleman’s Assoc., Iowa Soybean Assoc., and a Clinton County 4H Hall of Fame. He had strong faith beginning in baptism, confirmation, and a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. Roland enjoyed traveling to several countries and golfing. He especially enjoyed family, his children, grandchildren, and now his two great grandchildren. All of his farmer friends were special to him.
Roland is survived by his wife, Bette Petersen of Bryant, IA; three children, Mark (Patty) Petersen of Clinton, IA, Marsha (Paul) Puckett of Goose Lake, IA, and Michelle (Dan) Matheson of Aberdeen, SD; seven grandchildren, Miles (Stephanie) Matheson of Denver, CO, Lukas Matheson of Bentonville, AK, Rachel (Lance) Borman of DeWitt, IA, Brooke Puckett of Goose Lake, IA, Megan (Pete Fleming) Petersen of Des Moines, IA, Whitney (Isaac) Boyd of West Des Moines, IA, and Connor Petersen of Red Oak, IA; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Hazel Bormann; his sister, Nancy (Dave) Cousins of Clinton, IA; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
