Leo S. Clark age 91 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, IL. In following Leo’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at First Methodist Church. A service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow back at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Leo was born in Clinton on October 3, 1933, the son of Warren and Josephine (Dwyer) Clark. He attended Lyons Schools. Leo served with the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Hickam Air Base in Hawaii during the Koran War. He married Thelma Holt on September 21, 1958 in Clinton. Thelma passed away on September 17, 2003. Leo had been on the construction crew that built E.I. Du Pont and following his service with the Air Force he was employed there for 45 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a Boy Scout leader. Leo enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, traveling, camping, and spending time on the river front watching the barges pass.
Leo is survived by 3 children, Mary Hedgecock of Oskaloosa, Josephine (Keith) Knee of Fulton, and Matthew (Christina) Clark of Clinton; 4 grandchildren, Raymond (Hannah) Loechel, Michael (Andrea) Clark, Jennifer (Jacob) Little, and Kameron Knee; 9 great grandchildren, Dean, Ladessa, Dalton, Delta, Colter, Adalae, Jaylyn, Jaycee, and Kaiser and a brother, Vincent (Doogy) Clark of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma, and 4 sisters, Esther, Verna, Anna Lou, and Josephine. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts.
