Gary L. Petersen age 81 of Goose Lake, IA passed away Friday Aug. 15, 2025 at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday Sept. 14th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the Millenium in Goose Lake. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Gary was born on Sept. 28, 1943 in Clinton, IA the son of Clarence and Marjorie (Fallensen) Petersen. He graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1962. Gary married Jean Gradert on May 23, 1964 in Goose Lake, IA. He owned and operated Petersen Painting for over 50 years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jean Petersen of Goose Lake, IA; two sons, Kevin (Angie) Petersen and Rickie (Betty) Petersen both of Preston, IA; four grandchildren, Mitchell (Rachel), Brett (Jessica), Kyle (Halle), and Jacob; four great grandchildren, Lillian, Boyd, Daphne, and Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James.
