Mary E. Evans age 63 of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Mercy One Hospital. In following Mary’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There are no services planned at this time. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mary was born in Jefferson, Iowa on March 31, 1961, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Stewart) Jones. She served with the U.S. Army Reserves. She received her Secretarial Certification from the Denison Job Corps. Mary married Lloyd Evans in 1983 in Camanche. Mary had worked in the deli at the grocery store in DeWitt, at Walmart, and at Jewels. She had also been employed at Casey’s and in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and watching soap operas.
Mary is survived by 2 children; Jessica Evans of Clinton and Jason Evans of Breda, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Christina, Brooklynn, Hanley, Jaxton, Kayli, and Carter; her parents, Ed and Mary Jean Jones of Clinton, and 2 brothers, Rick (Teresa) Jones of Wichita Falls, Texas and Robert Jones of Clinton.
