Mark was born on Oct. 11, 1939, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Harold and Rosemary (Jogerst) Petsch. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam from 1965-1971. He married the love of his life, Patricia Teal, on Dec. 28, 1965, in Dubuque, IA; she preceded him in death in 2012. He worked as a Physical Therapist serving Dubuque, Clinton, and the surrounding areas. He was a proud member of the Prince of Peace Choir and Dubuque Chorale. Mark enjoyed attending local theater and symphony performances, swimming, biking, playing tennis, and sharing his love of the outdoors with his family. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Mark is survived by his five children: Anne (Jim) Zimmerman and Paul (Jamie) Petsch both of Rochester, MN, Ruth (Ryan) Neighbors of Lake Lotawana, MO, Sarah (Shawn) Swartzentruber of Hoopeston, IL, and Luke Petsch of Clinton, IA; grandchildren Jacob (Katherine), Skyler, and Cecilia Zimmerman, Georgia and Samantha Petsch, and Olive, Patrick, and Rosemary Neighbors, and great grandchild Jasper Zimmerman; four brothers, David Petsch, Daniel Petsch, and Joel (Candi) Petsch all of Dubuque, IA, and Philip (Rhonda) Petsch of Montague, MI; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and brother, Stephen.
On behalf of the Dubuque Chorale, I’d like to send our prayers to your family. Mark and Pat were active in the Chorale way before I was but I had the privilege of sitting next to Pat in the front row because we were so short. I loved to hear Mark sing in his beautiful tenor voice. God bless your family at this time. I am in Flagstaff AZ for a few weeks so can’t attend services, but my thoughts are with you.
Brothers and children of Mark and Pat: You have my prayers and deepest sympathy. It’s been a few years since I saw Mark, [last time at one of many visits to Village Inn, before Covid] but both Mark & Pat were very special to me through the many years we shared in Dubuque Chorale. I would not have transportation to attend his funeral (or even Visitation), but my thoughts and prayers are with you. A contribution in his memory is being made to the Dubuque Chorale!
Peace be with you all.
Sorry Sarah and Shawn, all the family
Sending our condolences and big hugs for your loss. Cherish your memories.
Condolences to Joel and Family.
