Viola B. “Vi” Stark, age 90 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte, Iowa. Pallbearers will be Addison, Pierce, Austin, and Adam Stark, Scott Ernst, Keenan Grumley, and Shawn Rogers.
Vi was born in Danbury, Iowa on December 27, 1931, the daughter of Hans A. and Magda W. (Ronnau) Christophersen. She graduated from Otto High School in Woodbury County. Vi married Glen D. Stark on February 10, 1955 in Sioux City. Glen passed away in 1973. Glen and Vi moved to Charlotte shortly after marring where Vi owned and operated Glen and Vi’s Tavern in Charlotte for 20 years. They were well known for their Friday fish fries and fried chicken. Later Vi was employed at A.C. Nielsen in Clinton, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the river Church. The biggest love of Vi’s life was her family. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and especially traveling, going on several cruises as well as going to the Middle East and Hawaii. Vi also loved to play cards and attend parties and events with her friends Marty, Glenna, and Helen.
Vi is survived by 5 children; Linda (Tom) Rogers of Bogard, MO, Rusty (Marlene) Stark of Grand Junction, CO, Randy (Patti) Stark of Clinton, Rod (Julie) Stark of Cedar Rapids, and Lori Platt Stark (Dan Peart) of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and her twin sister, Violet (Everett) Steinhoff of Trenton, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, 1 sister, and 2 brothers. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or Make-A-Wish. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
