Samuel E. Carver age 85 of Clinton, IA, passed away on Thursday June 23, 2022 at his home. In following Sam’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, with a Celebration of Life at the Clinton AMVETS at a later date. Family and friends will be invited. Sam was born on Nov. 4, 1936 in Freeman, West Virginia, the son of Rathfield Frelan and Maggie Mae (Nicewander) Carver. He attended Bramwell WVA schools. He was honorably discharged from the US Army, having served 4 years. He was awarded with several medals. He worked in the coal mines in West Virginia. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Simpkins) Carver on November 17, 1959.
Throughout his life Sam worked hard, a quality he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He moved to Iowa and was a shipping supervisor for Collis Company where he retired. He was a people person and enjoyed having a good time on the dance floor with family and friends. He loved to spend time outdoors working in his yard on his riding lawnmower and spending time in his workshop. His favorite pastime was hunting and attending car shows.
Sam is survived by his children Missy (Joe) Feldhacker of Des Moines, IA, Tim (Teri) Carver of Clinton, Steve (Patti) Carver of Clinton; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Penny (Jimmy) Little, Elah (Jack) Simpkins and Shirley (Jack) Dillon and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Sonny.
