Ross Elvin Puls, 82, of Buford, Georgia, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died on Thursday, August 17, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the service time Saturday at Pape Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Flowers are welcome, but memorials in his honor to the American Cancer Society, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute, The Holy Sisters of Adoration or Boystown would be especially meaningful to the family.

Ross was born March 29, 1941, in Mason City, IA, to Elvin Myles and Frances K. (Dawson) Puls. He attended St. Irenaeus grade school and graduated from Clinton High School. After one year in the US Navy, he married Sharon Kay Timmons on July 4, 1961. The couple moved to Longmont CO, where he began a career as a builder and trim carpenter. In 1963 they moved back to Clinton, IA. In 1986, Ross established himself as a successful and highly sought after master craftsman in trim carpentry in Buford, GA. He retired at age 62. Ross was a member of St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton, IA, and later a member of Prince of Peace Church in Buford, GA, where he served as an usher for 25 years.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Sharon (Timmons) Puls, two daughters, Laura (Stan) Brozo of Sweetser, IN, Rhonda (Parker) McCollough of West Lake Hills, TX; and two sons, David of Johns Island, SC and Tim (Judy) of Ellijay, GA. Ross had seven grandchildren, Christopher Brozo, Renee Brozo Clemens, Cory McCollough, James McCollough, Murphy McCollough, Chandler McCollough and Elvin Chateauvert. Ross had 11 great grandchildren. Ross had one brother, Steve (Linda) Puls of Dewitt and two sisters Ruth Ann (Kurt) Dohse of Dewitt and Pat (Gary) of Camanche. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.
