Roger L. Gammon, age 84 of Clinton, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Mercy One Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Roger was born in Clinton on April 10, 1938, the son of Ira Glenn and Pearl (Peters) Gammon. He graduated from Clinton High School. Roger married Gertrude Carstens on October 20, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. He served his apprenticeship as a pipefitter at Clinton Corn Processing Company where he worked for over 20 years. He retired as a pipefitter with Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber in Freeport, IL. Faith meant the world to Roger. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Outside Trades Local #387 Pipefitters Union, and the Thomson and Morrison Gun Clubs. He was very proud of obtaining his pilot’s license. He enjoyed shooting sports, yardwork, loved Westerns and Louis L’Amour books.
Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gertrude; a son, Michael (Pat) Gammon of Albany; a daughter, Linda (Scott) Cunningham of Minocqua, WI; 2 grandsons, Joe (Kelsey) Gammon of Fulton and Andrew Cunningham of Minocqua, WI, and 2 great grandsons, Alex and Calvin Gammon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anna Mae Newsom, and 3 nephews, David, John, and Wayne Newsom. Memorials may be made to the family.
