Phil Lundquist, age 84 of Camanche, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 5th at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Byam, Doug and Alan Hill, Braeton Podoski, Todd Jost, and Doug Susie.
Phil was born in Clinton on February 14, 1938, the son of Alvar and Luella (Schoening) Lundquist. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. Phil worked at Clinton Engineering while getting his BA and Master’s Degree from Stout State University in Menomonie, WI. He married Lorraine Jost on February 2, 1963 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Phil taught Industrial Arts at Miles High School for a year before going to Camanche where he taught Industrial Arts and Driver’s Education for 31 years, retiring in 1997. He touched many lives throughout his teaching career. Phil was a member of Church of the Visitation, Loyal Order of Moose, the AMVETS and the former Odeon Club. He had bowled at the Imperial Lanes. Phil and Lorraine moved into their dream house on the Mississippi in 1996. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at the cabin for get-togethers and hog roasts.
Phil is survived by his wife, Lorraine; 2 children, Eric Lundquist of Camanche and Kristi Stockman of DeWitt; 3 grandchildren, Allison (Cody) Featherston, Braeton Podoski, and Cameryn Lundquist; 3 sisters, Carol Hill of Clinton, Lois (Russ) Henningsen of Fulton, and Joan (John) Chick 0f Sunrise Beach, MO and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Brandon Andrew Podoski; a great grandson, Jaden Featherston; a son-in-law, Seth Stockman; brothers-in-law, Robert (Bunker) Hill, Robert King, Russell Rathje, Edwin Jost, and Arnold Jost, and 2 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nehrkorn and Irene Byam. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Camanche School District, Church of the Visitation, or family wishes.
