Patricia M. McCarthy age 84 of Clinton, IA past away Thursday Nov. 2, 2023 at Addington Place of Clinton. Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday Nov. 10, 2023 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday Nov. 9th from 4 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the mass, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Clinton. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Patricia was born on Aug. 7, 1939 in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Richard and Helen (Petersen) Hayes. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Waterloo, IA. Patricia worked at JCPenny for over 26 years. She is a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed playing cards in her card club, volunteering at the church and school, and was an avid Prince of Peace sports, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Patricia is survived by her three children, Chris (Gail) McCarthy of Fort Collins, CO, Brian (Joni) McCarthy of Woodward, IA, and Ann (Jamie Hitchcock) Kohl of Bryant, IA; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Brianna, Emily, Cari, Rachel, Aaron, Jenna and eight great grandchildren; her sister, Becky (Jim) Ickes of Marion, IA; two brothers, Tom (Carol) Hayes of Shorewood, IL and Dennis (Nancy) Hayes of Cedar Falls, IA; her special friend, Gordon Cramer of Clinton, IA; several nieces & nephews; and her two sister-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas, two sisters, Judy and Rosemary, and her brother, Steve.
We have fond memories of Pat and Tom at our family gatherings. We considered them extended family. My boys Jacob and Wade always enjoyed listening to stories as did I. I enjoyed all the laughter. We will miss her. Rick, Jacob Wade Hoffman
