Patricia J. May, age 83, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home in the early hours of Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Patricia was born on May 22, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and DeMerle (Anson) Seymour. On September 23, 1960, she married the love of her life, Gene May, in Clinton. During their 65 years of marriage, they built a life grounded in devotion, laughter, and shared experiences.
Patricia had a remarkable talent for creating beauty and comfort in every space she touched. Her home was a reflection of her warm spirit, welcoming, and filled with love. She adored her gardens, nurturing her flowers with the same patience and care she offered to everyone around her. For many years she enjoyed tediously crafting over 100 hand sewn quilts, that continue to bring comfort, meaning, and memories to those she loved.
A naturally creative soul, Patricia, along with Gene, lovingly passed their creativity on to their daughter, Kelli. Patricia encouraged Kelli’s artistic abilities from the very beginning, nurturing her talent and supporting her growth into the accomplished artist she is today. This legacy of creativity and confidence remains one of Patricia’s greatest gifts.
Patricia also cherished her trips to Las Vegas with Gene, as well as several close friends, where they made many joyful memories throughout their life together.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene May of Camanche, Iowa; her daughter, Kelli (Dan) Krenz of Galena, Illinois; her brother, Roy Seymour of Camanche, Iowa; her sister, Diana Holton of Anamosa, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.
Patricia will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle strength, and the love and creativity she shared so generously. Her legacy lives on in the hearts, and the hands, of all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, who have provided the family with exceptional care and support, is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.papefh.com.
