Nona L. Rowold, 89, of Wheatland passed away March 8, 2024, at Eagle Point Health Care in Clinton. According to her wish, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, March 11th from 10:00-12:00 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon. Nona was born November 23, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Lee and Lucille (Conway) McCutcheon. After graduating from Lyons High School, she entered Mount Saint Clare College where she received her teaching degree. She spent 5 ½ years teaching second grade in Clinton, Walcott and Wheatland. Nona loved playing softball. She played catcher for 12 years. She started by playing at Sino Park. She later played for Kohl Lumber Company and Freeport Queens. She also loved to dance and enjoyed watching the White Sox. We will never forget her wonderful Christmas meals, famous Christmas cut out cookies, and potato salad. She was proud of her Irish Heritage. On November 21, 1959, she married Richard Rowold in Clinton, Iowa. Nona and Richard had gone fishing in Brainard, MN for 60 years.
Family members left to honor her memory are her daughters Denise (Mark) Jensen of Clinton, Dawn (Jerry) Ford of Clinton, sons Richard P. Rowold of Wheatland, Daniel (Karen) Rowold of Corinth, TX; 4 grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda) Jensen, Tim (Lauren) Jensen, Nick (Brenda) Jensen, Ethan (Heidi) Ford; 5 great grandchildren, Lucy and Miranda Jensen, Oliver Jensen, Nona and Zachariah Jensen and a brother Lee (Susan) McCutcheon. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents Lee and Lucille McCutcheon and a sister Vivian McCutcheon and brother Tom McCutcheon.
The family would like to thank all the staff and residents at Eagle Point Health Care for their love, wonderful care and friendship. They made us feel like family during this difficult time.
