Matt J. “Matti” Krogman, Jr. age 89

Matt A. “Matti” Krogman, Jr. age 89 of Camanche, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at The Alverno. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shafton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Fawcett, Rick Suiter, Don Reames, Craig Lorenzen, Errol Peters, and Willard Larson.
Matti was born in Clinton on October 29, 1933, the son of Matt and Mathilda L. (Ingerson) Krogman. He attended Clinton Schools. Matt worked 2 years as a farm hand on the family farm. In 1956 he started working for 7 different quarry owners in Clinton County. He later worked 6 years as a heavy equipment operator at Wendling Quarries. Matti also served as the groundskeeper of Shafton Cemetery for 37 years. He retired in 2012 after 50 years of working. Matt married Judy Hazelhurst on June 24, 1974 in Low Moor. They later divorced. He was a member of the former Eagles Club. Matt enjoyed collecting antique cars, he still has his first car, a 1941 Ford. He loved animals and raised rabbits for 35 years.
Matti is survived by 3 children; Carrie Krogman of Camanche, Terry Krogman of Camanche, and Cindy (Ken) Decker of Clinton; a step-son, Richard Mess of Clinton, and a grandson, Jason Decker.
