Marilyn age 93 of Clinton, formerly of Elvira, Low Moor and Delmar, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Alverno. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Pape Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Springdale Cemetery.
Marilyn was born in Clinton on June 12, 1929, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Hansen) Nielsen. She graduated from Clinton High School. Marilyn married Marvin H. Otto on November 2, 1947 in Clinton. Marvin passed away on February 26, 2013. Marilyn and Marvin farmed in the Elvira, Low Moor and Delmar areas before retiring to Clinton. They were former members of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Marilyn enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her many flowers. She also always enjoyed a good card game with family and friends. Marilyn and Marvin were part of long running card clubs in the Elvira and Delmar areas. A great group of friends from Clinton played cards several times a week. The Melrose Court neighborhood always kept a caring eye out for Marilyn. Due to their attention, she was able to spend more years in her home. Her family is grateful for their and the card playing girl’s kindnesses.
Marilyn is survived by 2 children; Terry (Roxanne) Otto of Clinton and Julie (Steve) Dilling of Rochelle, IL; 5 granddaughters, Johannah (David) Dormer, Rachel (Dwayne) Mahoney of Clinton, Jennifer (Trent) Schloss of Neenah, WI, Stephanie (Bryan) Schmid of Rock Island, and Jessica (Cedric) Elam of Des Plaines, IL and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin and 2 sons, Donald and Gary Otto. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
