Marilyn D. Jackson, age 95 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Langrehr, Glenn Houhgton, Sr., Brandon Dean, Andrew Matzen, Rich Matzen, Dave Geronzin, and Jamie Barsema. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Marilyn was born in Clinton on May 8, 1927, the daughter of Claus J. and Viola M. (Meyers) Duhr. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1945. Marilyn married Robert K. Jackson on February 28, 1949 in Clinton. Robert passed away on April 20, 2006. Marilyn was a homemaker. She had worked for a short time and Sanitary Dairy and later Chancy Lutheran Church. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the former Chancy Lutheran Church. She and Robert had been members of the Moose where they enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights and Valley Oaks where they golfed. She went to the Erickson Center of knitting and crocheting on Tuesday’s and ceramics on Thursday’s. Marilyn loved to be with her daughters, grandkids, and great grandchildren. She bowled at the Recreation Lanes and later at the Plaza. She tended to her flowers and enjoyed walking the dike and eating supper with her sister., Shirley.
Marilyn is survived by 2 daughters, Bonnie (Glenn) Houghton, Sr. of Blue Grass, IA and Marianne (Jim) Langrehr of Camanche; 3 grandchildren, Jamie Barsema, Samantha Dean, and Ashlee Langrehr; 6 great grandchildren, Victoria, Chloe, and Gracie Barsema, Letty Langrehr, Oaklee Skimhorn, and Claire Dean; 2 sisters, Shirley Jackson of Camanche and Carolyn (Carl) Baty of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; a sister-in-law, Madeline Duhr of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a daughter, Cheryl in 1966; 4 brothers, Jurgen, Kenneth, Edward, and Howard and 3 sisters, Katherine, Audrey, and Maxine.
