Kathleen June Claussen, 98 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Westwing in DeWitt. A celebration of life will take place for close friends and extended family on Sunday, June 26th from 1-4 PM at The Barn at Brophy Creek Farm at 3653 240th St. DeWitt, IA. Kay was born in Clinton on June 28, 1923, the daughter of Ernest and Erna (Dierks) Sander. She graduated from Goose Lake High School. Kay married Edwin Claussen on January 21, 1944. Ed passed away in 1984. She was an assistant Postmistress in Bryant, IA. Kay also was an Avon lady, enjoyed playing cards, and crocheting.
Kay is survived by three children, James Claussen of Clinton, Brenda (Kenneth) Wriedt of Thornton, CO, and Nancy (Charles III) Baum of Geneseo, IL; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a sister, Myrna Pidde of Thomson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ed; a daughter Cynthia; brothers Paul and Hobart; and sisters Marilyn and Elaine.
We were saddened to learn of Kay’s passing. Our condolences to the Claussen family. So many fond memories of Kay and Ed as our neighbor and friend. It was always so much fun getting together with our “Bryant community” and celebrating the 4th of July. May the peace of a wonderful life she lived comfort you at this time.
