Katherine M. Moon age 68 of Clinton, Iowa passed away Wednesday April 2, 2025 at MercyOne of Clinton. Funeral service held Saturday April 12th at 3:00 PM at Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday 1 – 3 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will take place after the funeral and burial will be at Springdale Cemetery, Clinton at a later date. Katherine was born on July 23, 1956 in Pikeville, KY the daughter of Norman and Charlene (Bailey) Moon. She was a Clinton High School graduate. Katherine worked at Jewell-Osco as a baker. She was a member of the former Bethel AME Church. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Katherine is survived by her five children, Terrance Powell, Tony Powell, Brian Powell, Bruce Powell, and Robin Smith all of Clinton, IA; 26 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; her sister, Estella Elder of Atlanta, GA; and her brother, Joe (Sandy) Moon of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson – Derek Jr., and 3 sisters – Freda, Paulette, and Brenda.
