Judith A. “Judy” Carlson, age 80 of Clinton, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at her home. In following Judy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Judy was born in Clinton on July 7, 1942, the daughter of George and Marvel (Sweesy) Regenwether. She graduated from Clinton High School. Judy married Kenny Carlson on December 28, 1962 in Elvira. Judy’s job as a supervisor at Burpee Seeds brought her great joy and lifelong friendships. She later worked with her sister for many years at Mar-Gee Plastics, where she took time to get to know her customers personally. She cherished her time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sharing her experiences with them, from roller skating to riding her motorcycle, before pulling out her old record player to listen to some ABBA. She was a master at Rummy Royal but played any board game. Along with collecting Precious Moments and Isabel Blooms, she made sure to always take pictures and save special keepsakes from family memories over the years. She enjoyed being outside, spending time in the sun, tending to the flowers on her hill and took pride in the trees she planted in her yard for her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by 2 daughters; Lori Carlson of Phoenix, AZ and Wendy Carlson of Camanche; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Small, Blaise (Jeremy) Thurm, Ashton Schaley, and Caprice Schaley; 5 great grandchildren, Reegan, Kolton, Owen, Callan, and Lauren; 2 brothers, Gary (Karen) Regenwether of Clinton and Ronnie (Jean) Regenwether of LeClaire, IA; a sister, Janet Regenwether of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Pasqual Schaley; a grandson, Paul Jones; and a brother, Orin Regenwether. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Marc and I are so sorry to hear of Judy’s passing. My late mother-in-law grew up across the alley from her, and I always enjoyed talking to her when I visited MarGee. She loved talking about her trips to visit her children and grandchildren! You have our sympathy.
