Janice J. Beard, age 84 of Clinton, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Private Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 4th at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Imperial Lanes in Camanche. Pallbearers will be Kenny Garvey, Blake Harris, Bryan Kashon, Jordan Garvey, and Benjamin, Nathan, Jacob, and Garrett Schauf. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Janice was born in Newton, Iowa on March 31, 1939, the daughter of Virgil and Dorothy (Zumwalt) Wharff. She graduated from Clinton High School. Janice married Wallace Garvey in November of 1959. She later married Roger Beard on June 24, 1984. Roger passed away on February 29, 2020. Janice had been employed at A.C. Nielsen, Elmwood Dairy, Target, and the Timber Motel. She loved going to the Ozarks with her family, her monthly luncheons with her classmates and going to Florida with friends. She was an avid Magnolia and Hallmark channel viewer.
Janice is survived by 5 children; Vicki (Troy) Kashon of Aurora, CO, Connie (Scott) Schauf of St. Charles, MO, Jay (Cindy) Garvey of Clinton, Todd (Cassie) Garvey and Rodd (Karen) Garvey both of Phoenix, AZ; 3 step-children, Roger (Trish) Beard of Dunedin, FL, Rick ( Renee) Beard of Chillicothe, IL, and Randy (Missy) Beard of Washington, IL; 15grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and a sister, Shirley Dennis of Clinton.
