Jacob A. “Jake” Boothby age 53 of Goose Lake, IA passed away Monday May 19, 2025 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded and family & friends will have a Celebration of Jacob’s Life with a time and date to be announced. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jake was born on February 29, 1972, in Clinton, Iowa to James Dennis Boothby and Linda Lee (Wood) Puckett. He graduated from Maquoketa High School, Class of 1990. He went on to become a boilermaker for local union 83. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers from 1994 to 2015.

Jake was a free spirit and spent his free time tinkering with motors and anything mechanical. He was knowledgeable in all things that included motors or mechanics and enjoyed putting cars together for demolition derby. He enjoyed a good game of Euchre or any other card games and liked spending time with friends and family. He was a storyteller and had lots of stories to tell that were always interesting and wild at the same time.

Jake was survived by his son, Coy Boothby of Preston, Iowa, his mother Linda (Robert) Puckett of Midland, Texas; His siblings, Conrad (Katy) Boothby of Cotopaxi, CO; Nicholas (Heather) Boothby of Cedar Rapids, IA; Anne Boothby of Clinton, IA; and Benjamin (Tiffany) Boothby of Toledo, OH; Stepmother Rhonda Boothby of Fairfax, IA. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
