Howard L. Vogel, age 91 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brenden Greene, Nathan Vogel, Anthony and Issiaha Stickell, and Logan and Alex Vogel.

Howard was born in Fulton, IL on October 2, 1932, the son of Sikka and Ethel (Miller) Vogel. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1950. He served with the U.S. army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Howard married Jean Healless on June 16, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Clinton. Jean passed away on May 27, 2006. He was employed at E.I. DuPont for over 40 years. Howard was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved his family and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. He enjoyed being outdoors, sitting by his fire pit, in his garden where he grew inpatients, or being on the river. Howard also loved his summer vacations, traveling to Hayward area in Wisconsin, or up to northern Minnesota every year, and staying on a lake. He went out fishing at sunrise, because that is when the fishing was rumored to be the best. He loved Christmas, woodworking, playing cards, and enjoyed tending to his apple orchard at his home and baking apple pies.

Howard is survived by 3 daughters, Linda (Howard) Mandot of Camanche, Lisa (Joel) Myli of Clinton, and Katrina Greene of Clinton; 2 sons, Brian (Lorie) Vogel and Steven Vogel both of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert and Lenord, and 4 sisters, Marilyn, Darlene, LaRita, and Irene. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
