Gloria Jean Rowland 80 passed away peacefully at home Tuesday evening January 24th, 2023. Her loving family and her best friend / husband Jack were at her side. Gloria fought a courageous battle with cancer during the last three years right up to the very end. Now she is heading home “On Eagles Wings” to rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A memorial service at 11:00 am will be held on February 4th, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, IA. with Reverend Ron Lott officiating. Visitation will precede the service starting from 9 to 11. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be in the Boscobel Cemetery at a later date.
Gloria was born August 1, 1942 in Boscobel, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Leona (Piepkorn) Corpian. Gloria attended the local schools in Boscobel and graduated from Boscobel High School with the class of 1960. After graduation she was employed at the Boscobel Telephone Company. Gloria always had fond memories of growing up in Boscobel during the golden years of the forties and fifties.
Gloria married her best friend Jack Rowland in 1963. They were married 60 years. Gloria & Jack grew up in Boscobel and lived about a block apart. They were longtime childhood friends, neighborhood pals, and high school classmates. Gloria and Jack were fortunate and blessed to travel through life together for 74 years sharing so many stories and memories.
Gloria was a loving and busy stay at home mother raising five boys. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family and friends were a priority. Yet, she always found time to help others. Gloria volunteered for various organizations over the years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church for 30 years. She often helped or volunteered at Harding school. She was involved with the Harding Cub Pack for six years and with Boy Scout Troop 642 for more than ten years.
Later in life Gloria worked at A.C. Nielsen Company in Clinton, Iowa until they closed. She liked morning walks in the neighborhood, working in the yard, and time with her flowers. She enjoyed antique shows, craft shows, and the What Cheer Flea Market. Gloria also enjoyed scrabble, all types of board games, crossword puzzles, and word search games. Gloria and her family were especially proud of her excellent driving record that covered over a million miles accident free. When it came to sports it was the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Mark & Jill Rowland, DePere, WI. Sisters Beverly Scott, Shorewood, WI. & Betty Beinborn, Boscobel, WI. Sister-in-law’s Jeanenne Richardson, Boscobel WI. & Marilyn Hardy, Janesville, WI. Grandchildren Faithe Rowland, Seth Rowland, Austin Rowland, Michaela Rowland, and Ross Rowland. Great Grandson Oliver Harris. Special adopted grandsons Kyler Campie and Eric Campie. Many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by a twin son Daniel Rowland. Parents Kenneth & Leona Corpian, Brothers Claire Corpian & Phil Corpian. Sisters Marcy Radley & Dian Corpian. Father-in-law Paul Rowland & Mother-in-law Virginia Rowland. Brother-in-laws Charles Scott, Herman Beinborn, Art Radley, Edward Smith, Merle Rowland, Ervin Hardy, and Roy Richardson. Sister-in-law Sharon Rowland Hansen.

Sorry for the loss of your mom, Damian. She was clearly a big part of you and your brothers’ lives, spanning an impressive sixty years with your dad at the same time. Cancer isn’t a fair fight and it takes away too many good people like your mother. Here’s to better days ahead for you and your family.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Gloria was a a good mother-in-law to me and a wonderful person. I appreciate all the things she has done for me and my children. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
