Gene was born on Sept. 25, 1932 in Sabula, IA, the son of George and Wilma (Carpenter) Kramer. He served in the US National Guard. He married Ardelle Lampe on July 21, 1950 in Iowa City, she died in 1995. Gene worked at Ralston Purina as a Class A Millwright for over 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, mushroom hunting, his animals, especially his dog and cats. Gene was known by the community as the man with the famous fudge, his own recipe.
Gene is survived by his five children, James (Gina) Kramer, Penny (Todd) Brown, Rita (Martin) Garshak, Debra Harrison, and John (Annmarie) Kramer; his daughter-in-law, Vickie Kramer; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter; two brothers, George and Jerry Kramer; his sisters, Carol, Brenda, Sandy, Jacqueline, Sharon, Joyce, and Janet; several nieces & nephews, and special thanks to his caregivers, Ted and Cheryl Rettkowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mike, and two brothers, Milton and Ronnie.
