Eugene A. Mess age 83 of Camanche, IA died Wednesday May 14, 2025 at his home. A private family graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday May 20th at Center Grove Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
Eugene was born on Nov. 3, 1941 in Clinton, IA the son of Arnold and Laura (Mohr) Mess. He graduated from Clinton High School. Gene was a supervisor for Central Steel & Tube, Camanche for 23 years and was Property Manager for Indian Village Apartments, Camanche over 20 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton. Gene enjoyed going out on the river, water skiing, fishing, and camping.
Gene is survived by his son, Richard Mess of Clinton, IA; stepson, Terry Krogman of Camanche, IA; step daughter, Carrie Krogman of Camanche, IA; two grandchildren, Whitney and Katelyn Mess; and a sister, Carolyn (Edward) Stoltenberg of Winter Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carol, son, Thomas, and a granddaughter, Loren.
