Earl R. Quick, 86 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home. In following Earl’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home.
Earl was born in DeWitt on January 16, 1937, the son of Lloyd and Elsie (Cartee) Quick. He graduated from Clinton High School. He served with the Iowa National Guard. Earl married Joyce Walker on May 4, 1957 in Clinton. He had been employed with the Curtis Company, Chicago Northwestern Railroad, Jim Walters Windows, and as Buildings and Grounds Supervisor at Mt. St. Clare College retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Fulton County Club. Earl loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing, and dancing. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Earl is survived by his wife Joyce; a son, Dan (Kim) Quick of Clinton; a daughter, Ellen (Pat) Determan of Clinton; 4 grandchildren, Dan (Emily) Determan and Derek (Amber) Determan both of Clinton, Brooke (Matt) Johnson of Camanche, and Meagan (Nick) Rector of Ankeny; 10 great grandchildren, Bianca, Kallan, Vivian, Brody, Kami, Logan, Maren, Cameron, and Harper; a brother, Keith Quick of Cordova, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Cancer Research. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Earl was a terrific man and a good ambassador for the college. He was always friendly and willing to help out whenever he was needed. Fond memories of our associations at the Mount. May his memory be blessed.
Earl was a great guy. I worked for Earl as part of my work study at the Mount. He was friendly, a good role model, and just an easy going guy. I am so sorry for your family’s loss.
