Doris Jeanne Johnson, age 97 of Andover, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at The Alverno. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday January 21, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nathan, Matthew, Beau, and Ryan Johnson and Nick and Adam Huling. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jeanne was born in Clinton on April 8, 1925, the daughter of Lyal and Leota (Petersen) Struve. She graduated from Lyons High School and received her nurses training from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Freeport, IL. She was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital for over 37 years. Jeanne married Donald Johnson on September 25, 1948 in Clinton. Don passed away on May 26, 1990. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and with church circles, GPO (Great Plains Organization), the Miles American Legion. Jeanne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, camping, playing cards, and needle work. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
Jeanne is survived by 4 sons; James Johnson of Sidney, IL, Dan Johnson (Diane) of Goose Lake, Dwain (Debbie) Johnson of Clinton, and Dennis (Natasha) Johnson of Clinton; 2 sons-in-law, Henry Jewell of Andover and John Huling of Clinton; 15 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; 2 daughters, Karen Jewell and Colleen Huling; a great grandson, Krayton Huling; a grandson-in-law, Ryan Bierle; 2 daughters-in-law, Suzy and Elaine Johnson; 2 sisters, Rhea Aiton and June McDonald, and 5 brothers, Robert, Paul, Jack, and David Struve and Orin Naeve.
