David J. Wagemester age 84 of Clinton, IA, passed away Wednesday April 6, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton. Mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday April 12th at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:00 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be held at St. Boniface Cemetery, Clinton. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. David was born on Sept. 17, 1937 in Clinton, IA, the son of Al and Marie (Droste) Wagemester. He attended St. Mary’s High School, Clinton. He served in the US National Guard. David married Joyce Clark on Sept. 15, 1962 in Clinton. He was a farmer and seed corn dealer his whole life. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the Andover Volunteer Fire Department. David was an avid patron of Sweetheart Bakery and the Lyons Tap. He was known for his Wags’ Who Gives a Putt golf course on his farm.
David is survived by his five children, Linda Stroud of Camanche, IA, Jean Ann (Tim) McPherson of Olin, IA, Michael (Joan) Wagemester of Cedar Rapids, IA, Diane (Chris) Huecksteadt of Houston, TX, and Alan (Adrienne) Wagemester of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Leon) Bott of Clinton, IA and Dorothy Wagemester (Deb Ferraro) of Vista, CA; his sister-in-law, Gladys Wagemester of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Henry Wagemester, his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Darrell) Daniels, and son-in-law, Billy Stroud.
