Clair M. McDanel, age 91 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Alverno. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service time Saturday at the funeral home. Following the services cremation rites will be accorded.
Clair was born in Moravia, Iowa September 26, 1931, the son of Cyril and Thelma (Utterback) McDanel. He graduated from Moravia High School. Clair married Carolyn (Youmans) McDaniel on April 9, 1988 at Lyons United Methodist Church. Clair’s career included Sanitary Farm Dairy (11 yrs.) and Chemplex/LyondellBasell (22 yrs.) until 1990 retirement. Clair was a member of the Lyons/Trinity Methodist Church where he was very active in various church projects including Sanctuary painting, sound system and elevator installation. Clair was a member of the Fulton County Club and Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing pool and fishing. While wintering in Florida he enjoyed playing shuffleboard, and challenging his friends to board and card games.
Clair is survived by his wife Carolyn; 3 daughters, Barbara McHenry of Des Moines, Pamela (William) Warner of Murfreesboro, TN, and Sheila (Brad) Blanton of Collinsville, IL; 3 sons, Michael (Cathy) McDanel of Clinton, Royce McDanel of Tracy, IA, and Tim McDanel of Clinton; a step-daughter, Rachelle (Rick) Petersen of Clinton; 2 step-sons, Rick (Lily) McDaniel and Randy (Tina) McDaniel both of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 56great grandchildren; 2great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Brian)Driscoll, a special Niece, Jo Ellen Bacorn of Moline, Rick McDanel and special cousins Ray and Carl Culbertson.
