Charles “Chick” Ladehoff, 86 years young, of Clinton, passed away May 22, 2025, at home with his family. He was born on February 17, 1939, and married Eva Mantle on February 27, 1960. Chick was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1957. He was an engineer in the US Army from 1961-1963. He fathered three children: Paula (Will Mueller) of Fulton, IL; Nancy (Eric Olson) of Phoenix, AZ; and David of Chebanse, IL. He has six grandchildren: Brach Jennings of Lincoln, CA; Kaitlin (Nolen Cook) of Flagstaff, AZ; Everett Olson of Phoenix, AZ; Lauren Ladehoff of Philadelphia, PA; Kaleigh Ladehoff of New Orleans, LA; Christian Ladehoff of Chebanse, IL; and one great-grandchild, Felicity Cook of Flagstaff, AZ.
Chick was a Construction Supervisor for Clinton Engineering Company where he was employed for 46 years. He volunteered in the Izaak Walton League, Ducks Unlimited (Clinton Chapter), Hunter Safety, and Clinton Trees Forever.
Chick is survived by his immediate family and brothers Steve & Tom Ladehoff of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Adeline (Determan) Ladehoff, and brother, Don Ladehoff.
Charles “Chick” Ladehoff…Gardener extraordinaire, fixer of almost anything, jokester, animal lover, aquacise instructor, friend, storyteller, beer drinker, duck hunter, muskrat trapper, boater, outdoor lover, snowbird, just a good ole’ boy.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, June 1st, from 2-5 PM, at the Silver Dollar, 76 Main Avenue, Clinton, IA.
My condolences to the family. We loved Chick here at Pioneer Park. He was my water aerobics instructor and we loved him!
