Cecelia Regina Sullivan, age 91 of Clinton, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, February 25th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM until the Mass time Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Cecelia was born September 24, 1932 in Clinton, the daughter of Matt and Elizabeth (Dever) Cain. She married her soulmate Eldon Sullivan on August 22, 1953, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Clinton. Eldon passed away on August 5, 1988.
Cecelia was a woman of strong faith and many talents, but cooking for others was her passion, and how she showed her love for the many people in her life. Cecelia dedicated many years of service in the kitchen of St. Boniface Hall cooking for parish events, family reunions, countless weddings, and “The Wild Bunch” gatherings. If cooking was her passion, then Cecelia’s true love was her family. She did an amazing job of teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of family. We have many memories to treasure because of her devotion.
Cecelia is survived by her children; Richard (Jane) Sullivan, Larry (Katie) Sullivan, Gerilyn (Don) Jacobs, Sharon (Chuck) Soenksen, Michelle (Steve) Bernard, Janelle (Dan) Kitteringham, and Karen (Dave) Moeller; 15 grandchildren, Justin (Erin) Soenksen, Joshua (Tara) Soenksen, Shawn (Natalye McKenrick) Soenksen, Ryne (Kailyn) Sullivan, Daniel (Shannon) Sullivan, Jack Sullivan, Andrew (Ellie) Jacobs, Caitlyn Jacobs, Caleb, Emma, and Kyle Kitteringham, and Seth, Nathan, and Sarah Moeller, and Erin Moran; 8 great grandchildren, Bryce (Mackenzie Hall) Soenksen, Kaylee, Wyatt, Sophie, Stella, Simon, Samuel, and Sawyer Soenksen; a great-great grandson; Eddie Soenksen; her sister, Kathryn Caron; her brother, Robert (Joan) Cain; sisters-in-law Margaret Cain and Betty Cain, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Douglas; brothers Raymond, Edward, and Francis Cain, and five sisters and their spouses; Mary Margaret (Pat) McDermott, Angela (Bill) McMahon, Eileen (Don) Bly, Maureen (Vern) Witt, and Roberta (Milton) Obermann, and a brother-in-law Bob Caron. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peach Parish or Cross Catholic Outreach. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
My deepest sympathy on the loss of Cecilia. She was a lovely woman and always so welcoming.
