Carolyn A. Ziegler, age 90 of Clinton, formerly of Albany, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Mercy One Hospital. In following Carolyn’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday, June 24th at the Pape Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25th at Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Carolyn was born in DeKalb, IL on July 23, 1931, the daughter of John Carroll and Alice (Everhart) Mills. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from DeKalb High School. She received her nursing degree from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Rockford. She worked at Mercy Hospital and later at Borden Manor Nursing Home. She also did home health care for 21 years. Carolyn married Robert Ziegler on March 6, 1954 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Robert passed away on November 19, 2019.

Carolyn was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a church organist for 65 years in DeKalb, Clinton, Fulton, and Albany. She was a Past-President of St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society, the River Bend Music and Athletic Booster’s. Carolyn was a life time member of Green Hills Council of Girl scouts. She led troops in Albany for 34 years. She also served on the Green Hills Council of Girl Scouts in Freeport for 2 terms. Carolyn enjoyed watching football and basketball but she was an avid baseball fan, following the Los Angeles Dodgers since 1941. She enjoyed baking and was an avid bowler, having participated in the National Women’s Bowling Tournament for 30 years

Carolyn is survived by 4 children; Michael (Donna) Ziegler of Woodburn, IN, Kathleen (Peter) Carlson of Stephenville, TX, Christine (Lyle) Buis of Fulton, and Stephen (Renoo) Ziegler of Gilbert, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Kelly, Curt, Chad, and Derek; 8 great grandchildren, Blake, Chance, Ava, Kloee, Seth, Emma, Ruby, and Logan; 3 sisters, Judi (Kurt) Trieselmann of West Covina, CA, Mary O’Brien of DeKalb, and Donna Pantilla of Oakhurst, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister, Kathie. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Pregnancy Center.
