Bernice C. Witt, age 99, of Clinton, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. In following Bernice’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, which would have been Bernice’s 100th birthday, at 11:00 AM at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Rastrelli’s. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bernice was born on May 31, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Hendersen) Kolar. She graduated from Lyons High School. Bernice married Laurence Witt on September 7, 1946 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Laurence passed away in November of 2008. During W.W. II Bernice was employed at the Curtis Company. She and her husband had been members of the Loyal Order of Moose, AMVETS, the former Odeon Club, and NARFE. She enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales, and bowling at the Odeon and in the 55+ league at the Plaza.
Bernice is survived by 3 children; Larry (Jude) Witt of Clinton, Angie Doran of Florida, and Pat (Mike) Gammon of Albany; 3 grandchildren, Bree, Brandon, and Joe, and 6 great grandchildren, Logan, Allison, Carson, Brynleigh, Calvin, and Alex. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 step-brothers, Marvin and Charlie. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
I wondered if Bernice & Larry lived at the end of Roosevelt St. If so, do you remember having a large rabbit called SNOWBALL? Earl & Dea Larson would go up the street from 3007 to play with Snowball. Your folks were missed in the neighborhood. Blessings to the family & God’s Peace to you.
