Barb was born in Clinton on July 11, 1938, the daughter of Alvin and Veronica (Walsh) Sanderson. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1956. Barb married Donald Flood on August 31, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. Don passed away on August 29, 2022. Barb had been employed as a receptionist at Mt. St. Clare College for 28 years, retiring in 2006. She was a devoted and active member of Prince of Peace Church, grounded by a deep and steadfast faith that she expressed most beautifully through the way she lived her life. Barb cherished time spent with her family and friends and found joy in playing cards, traveling, reading, working puzzles, gardening, and cooking. She had a gentle heart for all animals, especially dogs, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes—never missing a chance to cheer on the Iowa Women’s Basketball team.
Barb is survived by 5 children; John (Marlissa) Flood of Chicago, Mary (Steve) Drury of Clinton, Joseph (Renee) Flood of Clinton, James (Abbie) Flood of Clinton and Melissa (William) Russell of West Branch; 16 grandchildren; 18 Great grandchildren with 3 on the way, and several nieces, including Kathy (Kurt) Haines and Ed and Al Sanderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and a sister. A memorial has been established. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
