Floyd Arthur Marx (70) passed away peacefully from heart complications on October 16, 2026, at the family farm where he was raised and later operated. The family welcomes Floyd’s friends to reminisce about his life on Friday, October 23rd, at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, IA, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday, October 24th, at the Evangelical Free Church in DeWitt, IA, where he was a member. Visitation will be one hour before the service, followed by lunch at the church, then laying him to rest at Center Grove Cemetery.

Floyd was born on January 11,1956, to Arthur C. and Bonnie Jo (Scott) Marx in Clinton County, IA. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1974 and later attended Iowa State University for the Winter Quarter Farm Operations Program where he made many lifelong friends during his three seasons there. Floyd was keenly interested in livestock nutrition and genetics leading to an end goal of carcass merit. He established a herd of purebred Limousin breeding stock, and sold bull semen through ABS. Floyd was very proud of his favorite bull “Lugnuts” who was one of his top performing animals. A past President of the Clinton County Cattlemen, he was honored to be inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2025. Floyd was a member of the Clinton County Republican Central Committee for approximately 50 years, becoming active soon after high school. A strong supporter of FFA, 4-H, and the Goose Lake Junior Feeders 4-H Club, he proudly attended the Clinton County Club Show every year of his life.

He married Laurie Tautz on August 26,1989. Together they had three children Forrest, Payton, and Allyse. They later divorced. On July 1, 2017, Floyd married Tina Bartels at Goose Lake, IA. He enjoyed his family, friends, cards, and trail rides. Greatly known for his storytelling ability, entertainment was never short when Floyd was around. He also enjoyed cooking and believed that if you can’t fix it with butter, brown sugar, or black pepper it may not be fixable. If you can’t improve it with all of that, try it with a shot of Jack Daniels.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Tina, and his three children: Forrest (Stephanie) Marx and their two children Nienna and Hans of French Camp, Mississippi; Payton (Sidney) Marx residing in rural Clinton; and Allyse (Luke) Friedman of Delmar, IA. Two step-children Taylor (Emily) Bartels and Tad Bartels both of Goose Lake, IA, and his mother-in-law, Shelba Van Horn, of Charlotte, IA. One brother, Aaron (Maurita) Marx of DeWitt, IA, and two sisters Janet (David) Bergman of Sugar Grove, IL and Gwenn (Jerry) Rickertsen of Bryant, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Bonnie Marx, and his father-in-law, David
Van Horn Sr.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Rickertsen, Brandon Rickertsen, Reece Rickertsen, David Marx, Dan Marx, David Swanton, Josh Lawlor, and Gabriel Wall. Honorary Palbearers are Dave Borchers, Jay Gradert, Dave Kramer, Mike Mommsen, Ray Scott, and Doug Voss.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Jackson County Hospice or Goose Lake Jr. Feeders 4-H Club.
