
Ronald A. Wilcke age 94 of Miles, IA passed from this life on August 11, 2026, at Mercy One Genesis Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be on August 18, 2026, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 am at the First United Presbyterian Church in Miles, Iowa. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery. Ronald A. Wilcke was born on July 22, 1932, the son of Marvin and Marie (Andresen) Wilcke in Clinton, Iowa. Ron graduated from Miles High School in 1949 as salutatorian of his class. He married Gloria Holtzman on February 25, 1951, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Miles. He lived his entire life on the farm that had been in his family since 1897, working it himself for 45 years. He was drafted into the Army and served proudly from March 1953 to March 1955. Since that time, he was a member of the Spencer Cook Post 677 American Legion.
As a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, he served as a trustee and a youth sponsor. Ron accompanied the youth group on mission trips to Wisconsin and Missouri. After Hurricane Katrina, he was a member of the group from the Miles church who worked to rebuild flooded homes. One of his favorite ways to serve was as a mentor for Kids’ Hope, a partnership between the Miles Presbyterian Church and the East Central Community Schools. An active member of the local 4-H club, he enjoyed showing cattle. He later became a 4-H leader and served on the Youth Committee for Jackson County.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Gloria, son, Dr. Jeffrey (Janet) Wilcke, daughter Brenda (Michael) McKone. Four grandchildren: Erin (Bob Jenison) Nott, Gregory (Stephanie O’Connell) Wilcke, Sarah (Richard) Price, and Nathan (Joanne) McKone. There are five great-grandchildren: Brooks, Grady, and Brinlee Price, Michael John and Matthew McKone. Several treasured nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leland, Ken, and infant Robert, and sister, Joyce.
Pall Bearers will be Joanne McKone, Nathan McKone, Erin Nott, Richard Price, Jr., Sarah Price, and Gregory Wilcke and Honorary Pall Bearers will be Bob Jenison, Matthew McKone, Michael J. McKone, and Stephanie O’Connell.
