Terry Cavanagh, age 81, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, December 9th at Prince of Peace Parish. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 am Friday at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Terry was born in Clinton on July 14, 1941, the son of Walter and Laverne (Donahue) Cavanagh. He graduated from Goose Lake High School. Terry married Jacky Adams on October 22, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in Bryant. Terry had been employed at International Paper for 37 years. Following his retirement he worked for Clinton County Conservation. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. Terry was very family orientated. He never missed a family sporting activity and was well known for the support he showed. Terry enjoyed golfing and fishing on a daily basis as well as scratch tickets, having won 2 big prizes. He looked forward to his yearly super bowl trips to Las Vegas with the guys. He was a fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Hawkeyes.
Terry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jacky; a daughter, Lori (Scott) Fuller of Clinton; 2 sons, Brian (Kate) Cavanagh of DeWitt and Tim (Christy) Cavanagh of Dublin, OH; 6 grandchildren, Adam (Dani) Cavanagh, Allison Cavanagh, Riley (Lindsay) Cavanagh, Dylan Cavanagh, Chris Fuller (Ruthie), and Case (Jill) Fuller; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Burken; 2 brothers, Ron (Betty) Cavanagh and Jim(Pat) Cavanagh; brothers-in-law, Steve (Cathy) Adams and Ives (Bonnie) Grossman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Don, Kenny, and Eddie; brothers-in-law, Mark Helmle, Merle Burken, and Danny Adams, and a sister-in-law, Donna Grossman.
Oh Jacky, I wish I could be there to give you a hug. I’m very sorry to hear about Terry’s passing. I can still remember seeing him at the plant picnics for International Paper when I was a kid and at our bank parties later on. I don’t know your new address, so wanted to make sure to leave a message on here to let you know that I am thinking of you and hope that you can take comfort in knowing the love you two had is reflected back in the eyes of your family. Terry and Jacky became part of our lives when he worked for RC Smith Transport.
Many times, he provided the link between O-Hare and family in Clinton.
