I am very sad to see that Coach Scarono passed away. He was a very nice man and always had a smile on his face. Elijah Buell was a better place because of him. Our sympathies to you all.
I was privileged to know Pete soon after his arrival in Clinton as, I think, his sister and her family, including my friends Chuck and Karin, followed from New York to the Midwest. Would see him almost daily whether at their home or at our elementary school, Elijah Buell. Don’t know if he was an extension of the DeAngelis family or the other way around.
Regardless, it was always a pleasant occasion to see his smiling face. I’m really sorry to just now see of his passing as I would have liked to be present to honor a good man. My sympathies to Ellen and your family, yours as well, Carolyn.
Ellen, Trish, Kara and Family,
Pat & I were so saddened to read about Pete’s passing…………..what a wonderful loving guy,
father and grand-father. Sometimes there are no words to express those thoughts that are
in our hearts. Offering our sincere sympathy, friendship and wishing all of you peace at this
difficult time. Love & Prayers.
Our sympathies go to all of you. We will miss seeing Pete during our annual trip to Leech Lake in July and will miss celebrating with Pete on his birthday. We were there when he celebrated many birthdays on vacation at Huddles surrounded by those he loved most – his precious family. The Hulstein’s and Scarano’s share many memories of special time with family “up North” – precious memories that can not be taken away. ❤️
Love and Prayers, Scott and Jodi
Pete Scarano, what a wonderful educator, what a wonderful person. Pete stood for everything which is good in elementary education! He touched so many young lives in such a positive and caring way.
Pete Scarano will be so missed in this community which he gave so much!
Sad to here about Pete! I meant Pete about 4 Years ago at SHIP. My folks really enjoyed talking to Pete. This last December he showed my folks his little sport car. He seemed to be very proud of this car. Always talked about how he was looking forward to going down to Florida. We will definitely miss seeing Pete on our next trip to SHIP!!! May he Rest In Peace!!!
Out thoughts are with you all during this sad time. May happy memories ease your grief.
My sympathy and prayers to the family. Pete was a great “north end” teacher, parent, and friend of Lyons Middle School. I remember his calm voice and demeanor whenever we visited. My best to all,
Cannot express how saddened his New York family is over Pete’s passing. Ellen, please accept our sincere condolences.
Pete was one of my nicest cousins and it was always great when we were able to gather with the cousins. I always enjoyed communicating with him on FB. We would always ask if he was still a Yankee fan – as if there was ever any doubt about it. Rest in peace, cuz. You’ll be missed.
What an honor for Pete’s Gamma Good Guy Fraternity Brothers to be carrying him to God.
Our times with Pete and Ellen were filled with fun and laughter, and Pete’s laugh was the best of all!
Ellen, my heart breaks for you and the girls. May your faith be with you.
“Peter Peter Peter!” God got a good one.
He will always be Mr. Scarano to me, as my 5th grade teacher at Elijah Buell, he was one of my favorites growing up.
My time in his class was often spent debating whether or not his New York Knicks were better than my Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan won his first championship that year. One day Mr. Scarano handed me a piece of paper, it had Bill Cartwright’s autograph along with a couple of other Knicks signatures, he’d gotten on a trip back to New York. He said, “Here keep these Nate” I’ll never forget that moment.
I’m sorry to hear of his passing, condolences to Ellen and family.
Many a laugh and great conversation together at the old Tradewinds, always a smile and something nice to say about everyone..my condolences to your family….
Another one of the excellent teachers from Elijah Buell that left a lasting impression on parents, staff and students. Prayers to Ellen and the family.
Pete introduced me to Buena Vista College and I have been forever grateful. He was a loyal B.V. grad and I always enjoyed our conversation. Our hearts and prayers go out to Ellen and the family. Jim and Debbie.
Pete stayed at Pelican Beach Resort for many winters.

Pete was the nicest guy. First met him when taking my mom to her Medicare review thru S.H.I.P
Now I see he was a teacher. I’m sure he was great! He will be missed.

So very sorry to hear of Pete’s loss! He was a great man and will be missed! I will forever think of him when I hear “Dominic the Donkey” and the “belly-button song”. He sure made our school Christmas parties fun!!
So saddened by the loss of Pete. I first met him, Ellen and family at Huddle’s Resort back in 2008. They stayed in cabin 12. Loved to watch them get out on Leech Lake with their boat. Pete and Ellen would show up and order a burger before they went to the cabin and on Friday night the whole family would get together for dinner. Cabin #30 is also is memorable as well.
My sincere condolences to Ellen and family. Prayers to all. I am unable to attend in person due to my Brother-in-laws death in SE Missouri. May God provide great comfort to everyone in this sorrowful time.
I was saddened to learn of Pete’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences.
I will always remember the friendly rivalry between us because of his love of the Yankees and my love of the Cubs. In fact, he was not amused to find I had redecorated his office at one time. And in turn, I was not amused when he gave my children “Yankee” gum when they made the playoffs one year. I assure you, it was promptly returned to him by me.
Please know of my prayers for you all. May he rest in peace.
