Robert G. “Bob” Krogman, age 87 of Clinton passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from injuries received in a car accident on March 16th. In following Robert’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM on Saturday, April 9th at Prince of Peace Parish with a celebration of Mass following at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bob was born in Clinton on August 25, 1934, the son of Martin J. and Josephine (Determan) Krogman. He graduated from Elvira High School. Bob married Marijo Shockey on November 25, 1952 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton and were close to celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary when Marijo passed away on September 12, 2021. Bob loved farming, hanging up the bib overalls was not an option, and devoted his entire life to the family farm just west of Clinton. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of Moose, where he and his wife went dancing every weekend. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, wood working, and venturing away for a weekend of camping and fishing. While camping or visiting with friends you could guarantee there were “Dirty Marbles” or a game of cards being played. He loved polka music and never missed RFD TV, with Molly B and Daniel O’Donnell. Bob and Marijo also loved traveling to McAllen, Texas for the winter months with many close friends. The infectious Krogman laugh and the smile for miles will be cherished by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by 4 children; Greg (Sherry) Krogman of Maquoketa, Marty (Sandy) Krogman of Clinton, Renelda (Brian) Baldus of Vinton, IA, and Barbara (Tim) Hookham of Elburn, IL; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Donna Burke of Uplands, CA and Joan Kremer of Dubuque; a brother, Merle (Mary) Krogman of Stockton, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marijo; and 5 brothers, Don, Jerome, Kenneth, Arthur and Orville. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
