Marcia Diane Carpenter age 76 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday Dec. 14, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton from complications of COVID-19. Visitation held Saturday Dec. 18th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM at Pape Funeral Home. The family requests that masks be worn in attendance of the visitation and service at Pape Funeral Home. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded, and burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. Marcia was born on July 23, 1945 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Harry and Lucinda (Schmidt) Carpenter. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1963. After graduation, Marcia moved to Chicago, IL where she was an Office Manager for a Public Relations Firm for over 40 years. Marcia was a very Independent Woman and was very proud of her accomplishments.
Following her retirement, she moved back to Clinton, IA and purchased a home to be closer to her family and friends, especially during the holidays. Marcia enjoyed her cats and often adopted them. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading, especially books of mysteries. Her nieces and nephews viewed Marcia as the “Awesome Aunt” and often viewed her as their confidante.
Marcia is survived by her three sisters, Wanda Peters of Sabula, IA, Carlota Carpenter of Washington, DC, Janell (Larry) Ketelsen of Redfield, IA; her two brothers, Charles (Maribeth) Carpenter of Clinton, IA and Kenneth (Roxann) Carpenter of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 nieces & nephews, Nicole, Walid, Jason, Nicholas, Dustin, Andrew, Daniel, Jordan, and Alan. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Todd, and brother-in-law, Richard.
