John R. Newsom age 46 of Clinton, passed away Saturday Nov. 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday Nov. 18th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Chris Ebensberger, Robert and Bill Newsom, David Schrader, Gabe James, and Jamie Behn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Local #111 Ironworkers Union of Rock Island. John was born on July 14, 1975 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John M. and Rita (Jansen) Newsom. He married Kayla Snodgrass on March 28, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV.
John worked as an Ironworker with Local Union #111 of Rock Island, IL. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garage, and mud bogs. John was known for working sun up to sun down.

John is survived by his wife, Kayla Newsom of Clinton; 6 children, Laura Newsom of Clinton, Dawson (Sam) Sally of Clinton, Wyatt (Michaela) Newsom of St. Marys, GA, Kolby (Destiny) Snodgrass of Clinton, Kaleb (Presly) Bovis and Tytan Newsom both at home Clinton; 4 grandchildren, Dalila, Jaiden, Gabriel, and Abel; 2 brothers, James Newsom of Clinton and Joe (Brandy) Newsom of Goose Lake, IA; and his sister, Jennifer (Gregg) Holdgrafer of Preston, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 nieces, Justice and Juliana.
