Robert C. “Bob” Richmond, age 83 of Goose Lake, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at Mercy One Hospital. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 28th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Pape Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited at 3:15 PM. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Bob was born in Clinton on October 13, 1938, the son of Carl Sr. and Elizabeth (Heck) Richmond. He served with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. Bob married Bonnie Krogman on June 22, 1963 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. He was employed at Ralston Purina for 31 years retiring in January of 2001. He was a member of Parish of Sts. Mary and Joseph, Sugar Creek.
Bob loved life, bringing joy and laughter to everybody he connected with. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s activities. In his younger days, Bob enjoyed spending time with his bowling team in Camanche on Tuesday nights or playing cards, Pitch, 500 or Poker, with family and friends. Bob coached Little League baseball and had an impact on many kids. That excitement for coaching came from his love of sports, especially the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed attending his kid’s high school events and college athletics.
Bob is survived by his wife Bonnie; 5 children, Monique Richmond of Clinton, Bart (Malinda) Richmond of Fairfield, IA, April (Chad) Rickertsen of Clinton, Jason (Julie) Richmond of Colorado Springs, CO and Nicole Willis of Waverly, IA; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, James Richmond of Clinton; a sister, Linda Skelton of Burlington, IA; He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jim Willis; 4 brothers, Carl Jr, Donald, Ralph, and Richard.
