Ronald E. Dixon, 79, of Clinton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 31, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Monday at Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton, IA. Visitation will be 3-6pm Sunday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton and from 9:30am until the service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Catholic Cemetery.
Ron was born in Jackson County on February 11, 1939, the son of Herbert and Leota (Gibson) Dixon. He attended the Clinton County country schools and served in the Iowa National Guard. He married Geraldine (Gerry) Pestka on November 19, 1960 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Clinton, IA. He worked at International Paper, retiring after 35 years. He also owned and operated Dixon Repair, working out of his own garage for many years. He was a former president of the Clinton Horseman’s Association where he was the Trail Master for the Hauntown Trail Ride for over 35 years .He was also a former member of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Patrol. In recent years, he worked for Schmidt Farms. Ron enjoyed riding horses, fishing and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine (Gerry) Clinton, five children, Terese (David) Larres, Germany, David (Missy) Dixon, Sabula, IA, Sue (Rich) Meyer, Dubuque, IA, Brian Dixon, Davenport, IA and Tim Dixon, Fredricksburg, VA; 4 grandchildren, Lauren Larres, Justin (Emily) Larres, Elise Larres and Joseph Larres; 3 great-grandsons, Jude Denton, Landon and Elijah Larres; 2 sisters, Barb Dixon, North Liberty, IA and Carol Godat, Clinton, IA; 2 sisters-in-law, Karen Dixon, Circleville, OH, and Ruth (Bob) Jost, Clinton, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard (Dick) Dixon. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
